Photography buffs flocked to Queen’s Quay Terminal on Friday, Sep. 26, to see the 50 photos chosen as finalists for the My Waterfront BIA photo contest and to vote for their favourite to win the people’s choice award. After an evening of Italian-inspired hors d’oeuvres, live jazz music and mulling over the fine selection of nature photos, attendees cast their votes. Sean Van Dongen, a Toronto-based nature photographer, won the award with his striking photograph “Snowy Owl at Tommy Thompson Park.”

Sean’s prize is two tickets to a lunch, brunch or dinner cruise on a chartered yacht. All the finalists’ photos, including the winning one, will be displayed for the public at Queen’s Quay Terminal until Nov. 2, so go and have a look if you’re interested in nature photography.

I attended the gala and live-blogged the events of the night as they unfolded. Read on for my photo coverage of the people, photos, music and food of the My Waterfront BIA photo contest gala!
