Timeline: A History of Public Art in Toronto

This timeline looks at the development of Toronto’s policy on public art and the pieces that influenced the urban landscape and social consciousness of our city. We’ll travel from the earliest public statuary celebrating the military leaders and elites who helped build the city of Toronto, to the experimentalism and growth of the art scene in the 1960’s, to our bourgeoning awareness of the positive impact of art in the urban environment over the past 50 years.
