A man was arrested this morning in connection to the murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne according to a press release issued by Gotham police.
Joe Chill, 37, is charged with two counts of second-degree murder, one count of armed robbery and one count of illegal possession of a firearm.
The police allege that Thomas and Martha Wayne were fatally shot after an attempted robbery at Monarch Theatre last night at 11 p.m.
They were out with their eight-year-old son, Bruce, who witnessed the murder according to police.
Homicides involving guns have increased by 15 per cent since last year.
In comparison to other types of homicides, gun homicides have only gone up.
Thomas Wayne, inheritor of the billion dollar Wayne estate, was also a surgeon.
Martha Wayne was a popular philanthropist who was active with many charities.
Chill is scheduled to be in court Friday.
